Septic Excavation

We handle the dirt work so your installer can focus on the system. Tank excavation, distribution field trenching, backfill, and final grading — cut to spec and ready for health authority inspection.

What's Involved

How Septic Excavation Works

We work with the installer and the engineered design. The installer specifies the tank location, depth, and field layout — we dig it. The CAT 305 excavates the tank hole to depth, trenches the distribution field to grade, and places bedding material where the spec calls for it.

Tank holes get cut clean with vertical walls and a flat bottom. Distribution field trenches hold their grade across the full run — no high spots, no low spots, no pooling. When the installer lays pipe, every joint drains the way it's supposed to.

After the installer finishes and the inspector signs off, we backfill in lifts with proper compaction and do the final site grading. The goal is a finished surface that drains away from the field area and leaves no sign of where the system went in — except the risers.

We've done enough septic jobs in the Cariboo to know the typical soil conditions, frost depths, and setback requirements. We show up with the right bucket, dig to the right depth, and leave the site ready for the inspector.

FAQ

Common Questions

What does septic excavation involve?

We dig the tank hole, the distribution field trenches, and any connecting pipe runs to the specs provided by your septic installer or designer. We also handle backfill and final grading after the system is installed. We do the earthworks — the septic installer does the actual system.

Do you install the septic system or just dig?

We do the excavation side only. We dig to spec, the septic installer places the tank and distribution system, and then we backfill and grade.

How long does septic excavation take?

A standard residential septic excavation is typically a 1 day job. Larger systems, rocky ground, or difficult access can push it to 2 days. We coordinate with your installer so everything happens in sequence.
