Matting carries equipment over ground that won't take it — wet rights-of-way, soft crossings, sensitive ground — and protects that ground while the job keeps moving. We supply, install and remove access mats across the Cariboo and BC.
Mats on the ground, roads where there are none
We deliver matting at job scale: access and swamp mats, rig mats and timber mats — supplied, installed, and pulled back out when the work is done. That covers temporary mat roads over soft ground, work pads for equipment and staging, and crossings where a wet spot or a sensitive feature sits between you and the job.
You order the access, not the hardware. We size the matting to the ground and the loads, place it, maintain it through the job, and remove it — one contract, one invoice.
Matting pairs naturally with the rest of our earthworks: where a route needs a real access road, we build it; where the ground only needs to carry loads for a season, mats do it without the earthwork.

Rutted ground is reclamation cost
Run equipment over soft ground and you pay twice: once in stuck machines and lost days, and again in the reclamation bill when the ruts have to be repaired. Matting keeps the ground whole and the schedule alive — through breakup, through wet season, and across ground that regulators and landowners expect back the way it was.
On environmentally sensitive ground it's often not a choice at all: mats are how the work gets permitted, and how it gets done without leaving a mark.

In this country, winter carries the machines for free — that's why winter is clearing season. Matting is how the other three seasons get worked: when the job can't wait for freeze-up, mats put a floor under it.
Common Questions
What's the difference between swamp mats and rig mats?
Swamp mats — access mats — are the workhorses: laminated timber panels that spread a machine's weight over soft ground for roads and crossings. Rig mats are built heavier, usually steel-framed, for the loads under drills, cranes and heavy plant. Most access jobs run on swamp mats; work pads under heavy equipment are where rig mats earn their keep.
When does a job actually need matting?
When the ground won't carry the loads and the schedule won't wait for it to dry or freeze. Wet rights-of-way, soft approaches to crossings, high water tables, and any ground your permit says has to come back undamaged. If a pickup ruts the route on the walk-through, the equipment behind it needs mats.
Can we just wait for freeze-up instead?
Sometimes — and when the job can wait, that's honestly the cheaper answer. Frozen ground carries equipment for free, which is why we push winter work hard. Matting is for when the window is now: an outage that's scheduled, a season that can't slip, or ground that stays soft even in January. Do you remove the mats when the job's done?
Yes — supply, installation and removal are one scope. Mats come back out, the ground underneath gets checked, and anything that needs touch-up gets dealt with before we leave. You're not left with a mat road you have to deal with in the spring.
